School improvement plan
The school improvement plan drives the work of the school. It was formulated in 2006 and highlights those aspects of the school’s performance where we wish to develop our provision further. A summary of the aims and focuses for improvement over the three-year cycle follows-
Personal development and well-being
- To embed a culture of positive behaviour for learning
- To establish a consistent approach to the management of pupil behaviour
- To foster a culture of aspiration
Leadership and management
- To develop personalised CPD programmes for all teaching staff
Pupil Voice
- To engage pupils actively in their learning, school life and the community
Target-setting and reporting
- To improve the effectiveness of the reporting system
- To ensure that the data is used to impact positively on teaching and learning and for intervention purposes
- To ensure that the process is informative for pupils and parents
Quality of Provision (Teaching and Learning)
- To establish and enhance highly effective assessment for learning in all lessons and all subjects
- To improve the quality and provision of homework
- To deliver successfully a strategic vision of ICT across the curriculum
- To develop Technology and Language College status
Additionally
- To extend the school’s work with other locality partners in support of vulnerable children, young people and their families
- To prepare to offer extended schools’ provision from 8 am – 6 pm in line with the Government’s Extended Schools’ initiative
- To oversee the extensive building programme for 2007 – 11
