Art & Design

Art and Design at SVC is a practical based subject taught by specialist teachers in two fully equipped art rooms. Students are given the opportunity to develop their skills in painting, drawing, printmaking and three dimensional work using media such as paint, oil pastels, charcoal, pencil and clay.

Students are encouraged to express their creativity whilst learning basic skills which will prepare them for later studies.

Students are confident to work outside of the classroom and so far this year at KS3 a group of Year 9 students have been given the opportunity to produce artwork for a short animated film, Year 8 students are currently working on two backdrops to be used in a production of ‘Puss in Boots’ at Balsham and Year 10 have been busy re-designing the logo for the John Huntingdon Charity based here in Sawston. Year 11 have just exhibited work produced in partnership with the Curwen Print Studio. This exhibition is currently hanging in the Walnut Gallery before being moved to the Cambourne Council Offices in the New Year.
